His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Sharjah Health Authority and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) at Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed Al Mheiri, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority, and Lena Al-Oraikat, Director of UNICEF Representative for the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in the areas of child rights protection, exchange of technical and statistical expertise, and the launch of community-based initiatives that directly and sustainably serve society. The signing of the agreement builds upon the first Memorandum of Understanding concluded in November 2018, which contributed to reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a model environment that provides future generations with the best opportunities for growth and empowerment, while supporting the Emirate’s efforts to establish an integrated social ecosystem that ensures the wellbeing of children and their families. Under the agreement, Sharjah will work to develop and implement strategies that promote the rights of children of all nationalities, age groups, and abilities, further strengthening its position as the first Child-Friendly City in the region and ensuring children's wellbeing, development, and protection in line with the highest international standards and principles.
