The Sharjah Health Authority continues its World Diabetes Day awareness activities, organizing today a health campaign at Al Murooj English School for the second consecutive day. The campaign offered free tests for blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight, in addition to providing health consultations and guidance on the importance of a balanced lifestyle and early detection of diabetes. The event witnessed notable engagement from students, reflecting their awareness and the commitment of educational institutions to public health. This initiative comes as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance prevention and promote a culture of health within the community.
The activities of the World Diabetes Day campaign, organized by the Sharjah Health Authority, were launched today at Al Bataeh Municipality, marking the first stop in the Authority’s series of awareness campaigns for this year. The campaign aims to enhance awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection of diabetes by offering free tests for blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight, in addition to providing health consultations on proper nutrition and a balanced lifestyle. The first day witnessed strong attendance and engagement from municipal employees and visitors, who showed great interest in taking the tests and benefiting from the medical advice provided. This initiative reaffirms the role of the Sharjah Health Authority in promoting health awareness across the various cities and regions of the Emirate and reflects its ongoing efforts to support the community and reduce chronic diseases.
With the presence of H.E. Amal Ahmed Al Qatari, Director of the Sharjah Health Authority, and H.E. Dr. Mariam Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, the Sharjah Health Authority held a meeting with the Emirates Drug Establishment to discuss avenues of joint cooperation on the unified tracking system for medicines and medical products (Tatmeen). The meeting aimed to enhance integration and elevate safety standards and the quality of medical products.
Sharjah Health Authority was honoured by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in recognition of its outstanding contributions during the “Sharjah: Future Station – Healthcare” Forum. The award was received by H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed Al Mheiri, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority, acknowledging the Authority’s leading role in advancing the healthcare sector and promoting innovation and quality of life in Sharjah
The Breastfeeding Friends Society, affiliated with the Sharjah Health Authority, organized a virtual awareness lecture in English during National Breastfeeding Week titled ‘Breastfeeding a Priority: Why and How?’ on Microsoft Teams. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Evelyn Ruf, Lactation Consultant at the Society, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, its health benefits for both mother and child, and ways to support mothers in overcoming challenges, as part of the Society’s efforts to promote healthy practices within the community.
